Ruby Edith Long, 89, of Dunkirk, IN passed away Saturday afternoon, November 17, 2018 at IU Health, Ball Memorial Hospital of Muncie, IN. She was born October 8, 1929 in Jay County, IN the daughter of Haskel C. and Hazel A. (Manor) Stanton. She was a graduate of Dunkirk High School.
Ruby retired after 30 years with Kerr Glass of Dunkirk, IN. She enjoyed spending her leisure time with family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed family gatherings and was known for her love of cooking. She would share her culinary delights with family, friends and co-workers. She enjoyed reading, and working puzzles. She made rugs and pillows until she ran out of people to give them to.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Richard Long (wife, Christine) of Union City, IN, Randy Long (wife, Shirley) of Albany, IN and Rocky Long (wife, Carol) of Logansport, IN; a brother, Charles Stanton of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, Travis, Brock (wife, Heather), Brent (wife, Kacey), Mark (wife, Stephanie), Hannah Hughes (husband, Jeff) and Hope Long; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Kenneth Long; a granddaughter, Sarah Long; and a granddaughter-in-law, Shannon Laursen-Long.
A service to celebrate Ruby’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Dunkirk Memorial Chapel of Dunkirk, IN. Burial will follow at Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery of Dunkirk, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 12:00 p.m. to service time on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
