Phillip Lee Holliday, 74, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 6th after a two-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.
Phil was born on January 6, 1944, in Tipton, Indiana to John Robert and Edith (Stroup) Holliday. His family moved along Cabin Creek in 1948. He attended Stoney Creek School for grades 1 – 8. He graduated from Farmland High School in 1962.
He married his high school sweetheart Carlyn (Mills) Holliday on March 8, 1964. He graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in June of 1980.
He was a 46-year member of the Farmland Masonic Lodge and a 44-year member of the Grand Council Royal and Select Masons of Ohio, The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio and DeMolay Commandery No. 9 Knights Templar Tiffin, Ohio He was a former owner of the Farmland Locker. He also had an in-home tax preparation business. He retired from the Randolph County Auditor’s Office after 8 years of service.
He loved cutting wood, gardening, beekeeping, watching the birds, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. He especially loved sharing time with family and friends.
Phil is survived by his wife of 54 years Carlyn (Mills) Holliday, daughters Michelle (Mike) Hoerst and Jamie (Jeff) Antic and honorary son Nick (Katie) Jones, grandchildren Tyler (Megan) Stinson and Kelsie Stinson, great-granddaughter Eliana Stinson, brother Steve (Debbie) Holliday and sisters Nancy Martin, Kathy Stephens, and Beth Ann (John) Harrison and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Robert and Edith (Stroup) Holliday, three brothers Robert Joseph, Larry and Michael Holliday, one sister Janet (James) Brandenburg, one sister-in-law Josie (Larry) Holliday, and one brother-in-law David Stephens.
Visitation will be from 2 – 6 on Sunday, September 9th at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel. There will be a Masonic Lodge service at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, September 10th at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel, Parker City, Indiana. Fr.
