Luella Mae (Hummer) DiBattiste

Luella Mae (Hummer) DiBattiste, 87, went to be with Jesus and the rest of her family that were waiting in Heaven, on October 6, 2017, at home, surrounded by her family.

 

Luella was born in Dunkirk, Indiana on October 2, 1930 to the late Paul and Alice “Mae” (Brown) Hummer.

Luella graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1949.  She married Nick DiBattiste in 1950.  She loved and dedicated her life to her family, church, friends and community.  She worked in the glass industry for 30 years before retiring from St. Gobain in 1995.  She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dunkirk.  In her lifetime, she had been a member of the Alter and Rosary of St. Mary's; Glass Awareness Committee; Dunkirk Beautification Committee; Dunkirk Legion Auxiliary; Dunkirk Moose; Jay County Democrats; and the Local #96 Union.  She was also a leader for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in the 70's and was nominated as the first Senior Queen of Glass in 1996. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick DiBattiste; companion, Hubert “Cap” Arbuckle; son, Paul DiBattiste; grandson, Adam DiBattiste; granddaughters, Andrea DiBattiste, Brianna DiBattiste; and brother, Jerry Hummer.

 

She left behind 3 sons: George (Brenda) DiBattiste, Amboy, IN; Frank DiBattiste, Inlet Beach, FL; Anthony DiBattiste, Dunkirk,  IN; 3 daughters:  Anna (Anthony) Scovanner, Loveland, OH; Mary (Clark) Anderson, Redkey,  IN; Gloria (Jerry) Colaric, Parma, OH; stepchildren:  Delilah & Bobby Cox; Tom Arbuckle, David Arbuckle, Karla Ruble, and Doug (Sherry) Arbuckle;  grandchildren: Nicci Littler, Brandi (Trevis) Bright, Scottie (Paula) Gunckel, Paul DiBattiste, Carissa (Michael) Morris, Nick (Linda) Scovanner, Mark Scovanner, Ryan (Marci) DiBattiste, Morgan (Dameon) Greer, Brittany DiBattiste, Colicia DiBattiste, Taylor Colaric, Kelsey Colaric, Michelle Glass, Cameron Colaric, Zeb (Neesha) Anderson, Molly (Evan) Twigg and Candace (Chad) Muhlenkamp; many step-grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, Smokey (her cat) and many others who were near and dear to her heart.

 

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 11th at Dunkirk Memorial Chapel.

Mass Service will be on Thursday, October 12th at 12:00 noon, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dunkirk.
