James “Jim” Alan Fancil, 72, of Dunkirk, IN passed away peacefully Sunday, December 10, 2017 at his residence, with family by his side. He was born October 18, 1945 in Detroit, MI the son of Robert Lee and Mildred Pearl (Williams) Fancil. He was a graduate of Yorktown High School. He honorably served in the US Army.
Jim retired after 30 years as a forklift operator for General Motors of Muncie, IN. He enjoyed spending his leisure time practicing his art of woodworking and relaxing waterside with his fishing pole.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 52 years, Mary Catheryn “Cathy” Fancil; a son, Chris Alan Fancil (wife, Lavona) of Union City, IN; a daughter, Dawn L. Fancil (Steve Heitkamp) of Celina, OH; four brothers, Robert and Richard Fancil of Georgia, Jack Williamson and Charles Lytle of Muncie, IN; two sisters, Barbara West of Geneva, IN and Colleen Williamson of Muncie, IN; six grandchildren, Casey N. Fancil, Britney D. Iliff (husband, Nathan), Bryan M. Shawver, Spencer A. Fancil (wife, Misty), Sidney E. Fancil (Aaron) and Leanna C. Perez (Chuy); eight grandchildren, Keatan, Kaedan, Kamran, Koltan, Kasin, Kyrsan, Rayden and Zander; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery of Muncie, IN.
