Gene Ann Riley, 91, of Lynn Indiana passed away August 5, 2018 at Forest Park Health Campus of Richmond, IN. Gene Ann (Clark) Riley was born on March 21, 1927 to Rose Elma White and Clarence C. Clark in their family home, Lynn, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dorothy (Clark) Brenner, and brothers, Edison and David.
Gene Ann was married to her high school sweetheart, Merrill G. “Cy” Riley on May 5, 1945 and recently celebrated 73 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband, Cy Riley of Lynn, where they lived all of their married life; three children, Michael Riley (Francisco) of New York City, John Riley (Pam) of Carthage, IN and Susan Sherman (Roger) of Valparaiso, IN; four grandchildren, Christine Rust McKinney (Mike), John T. Riley, James Riley (Natalie), and Caitlin Sherman; nine great grandchildren, Heather, Tyler and Makayla Fetla, Sarah, Hanna, Isabel, Irulan, Joannah and Aliyah Riley; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Riley (Myriam).
Mrs. Riley was a homemaker to her family, a friend to many and a servant of Christ to her community of Lynn. She enjoyed teaching cooking and sewing in Home Economics and served as a Lynn Girls 4-H leader for many years. She taught Sunday School, children’s choir and sang with the church choir at First Church of Christ. All who knew her loved her. “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all” Proverbs 31:25, 28-29. She was an avid golfer.
A service to celebrate Gene Ann’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thomas Memorial Chapel of Lynn, IN, with Pastor Bill Barnett officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery of Fountain City, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8th, at the funeral home.
