David E Addington

March 20, 1941 ~ November 18, 2018 (age 77)

David Earl Addington, age 77, died peacefully in his home on November 18th, 2018 cared for and surrounded by his wife, daughters and his most loved dog, Sammy. David grew up in Muncie with his brother, Jim, and parents, Kenneth and Mary Katherine Addington. David was a 1959 graduate of Royerton High School. He had a paper route growing up, was in boy scouts, and enjoyed playing in the high school band. His father owned a used car dealership, Addington Motors, and David loved all things mechanical, but especially automobiles. He was considered by those who knew him best to be able to fix almost anything and if he didn't know --he would find out. He wed Mary Ruth Greer on New Year's Day, 1962 in Muncie, Indiana. He adored his "Ruthie" throughout their 56 years together. He had two daughters, Kim Neal of Greenfield, and Karen Brincefield of Farmland.  He worked at Westinghouse, Colonial Bakery, and Borg Warner where he worked as an engineer until retiring.
David and his wife often welcomed others into their home and were eager to help anyone that they could. He often took on many jobs in order to provide the best possible life for his wife and girls working during the day at his office job and farming, which he loved, at night. He attended the Winchester Nazarene Church and True Light Baptist with his wife and sang in the choir until his illness kept him mostly homebound. Despite his illness he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  His last words were how grateful he was to have been able to know them all and how much he would miss his family and especially his wife. He will be received in heaven by those who have gone before him, including his parents, Kenneth and Mary Addington, and his grandson, Connor Brincefield. His love, kindness, wisdom, and wit will be missed by those he leaves behind: wife Mary Ruth, children Kim Neal (husband Chris and daughter, Shelby and her boys, Greyson and Kanon), Karen Brincefield  (husband Jeff, son Jacob, son Connor -deceased,  daughter Chloe), great-niece Amanda Pallada (husband Dave and daughter Eliza),  Jim Addington (wife Dayna and daughters Tamara and Tina and families), his best friend, Dave Lewis of Muncie, and many loved nieces , nephews, family, and friends. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to all of the staff at IU Hospice, but especially Candie and Amellia whose kindness, compassion, and care helped the family greatly during David's final days. Any donations in lieu of sympathy can be made to IU Hospice, YWCA, or the Muncie Mission. David will forever be missed by his family, but especially during this upcoming bittersweet holiday season.

A service to celebrate David’s life will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN.
