Charles E. McCormick, 89, of Dunkirk, IN passed away peacefully at his home, July 27, 2017, with family by his side. He was born February 4, 1928 in Ivaton, WV, the son of Carl R. and Lettie (Hughes) McCormick. He honorably served in the US Army during W.W.II.
Charles retired at the age of 61 after more than 30 years as a paper machinist with 3M Corporation of Hartford City, IN. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed reading his bible and witnessing God’s love. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 66 years, Dora E. (Eskew) McCormick; a son, Charles “Chuck” McCormick, Jr. (wife, Sonia) of Dunkirk, IN; two daughters, Kathy Tutterrow (husband, Lanny) of Muncie, IN and Christine Ford of Eaton, IN; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Pamela Kay McCormick-Skinner; a great grandson, Cason Davies; a son-in-law, Bruce Ford; two brothers; and two sisters.
A graveside service to celebrate Charles’s life will be 11 am Monday, July 31, 2017 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery of Muncie, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 2-4 pm Sunday, July 30th at Dunkirk Memorial Chapel of Dunkirk, Indiana.
