Barbara Hubbard went home to her Lord on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at her residence. She was born on January 4, 1944 at Fort Bragg, NC, while her father was serving in the U.S. Army. After World War II, the family returned to their home in Anderson, IN. She attended public schools in Anderson, graduating from Madison Heights High School in 1962. After attending college, Barbara was married and blessed with three daughters. As a stay-at-home mom, Barbara was active in her children’s school and extra-curricular activities. In 1987, she returned to school, and graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science Administration.
In 1993, Barbara accepted the position as Executive Director of the Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross. After serving with the Red Cross for nearly six years, Barbara accepted the position as Executive Director of Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity, where she served until 2007.
Barbara was a former member of Muncie Noon Rotary Club, Alpha chapter of Psi Iota Xi, United Way Executive Directors Council, and Indiana Republican State Committee. She was awarded a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Otis R. Bowen and Gov. Robert Orr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Don Hubbard, Farmland; three daughters, Amy Dishman of Muncie, IN, Heidi Wendling (husband, David) of Nashville, TN and Katie Cabanas (husband, Michael) of Coral Gables, FL; a brother, Robert K Doyle of Greensboro, NC; twelve grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Ellen Doyle of Anderson, IN; and one brother, John Doyle, Jr. of Glendale, AZ.
A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be 5 pm Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN, with Tim Cleland officiating.
