Elizabeth “Betty” Clevenger, 92, of Parker City, IN  was lead by her savior, Jesus Christ, to her heavenly home,  Thursday evening, March 29, 2018. She was born June 12, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of George L. and Ida M. (Baker) Scroggin.

Betty grew up in Illinois and moved with her family to New Castle, IN, as a teenager. At the age of 18 she worked for Perfect Circle in Hagerstown, IN, during the War. As an adult she worked 37 years in banking, retiring in 1987 from Industrial Trust & Savings of Muncie, IN. After her retirement, she practiced her love of the arts, spending countless hours at canvas, oil painting. She was an active member of the Parker United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

She leaves to cherish her memory a brother-in-law, James Clevenger (wife, JeanAnn) of Losantville, IN; two sister’s-in-law, Pauline Cates and Marilu Clevenger, both of Modoc, IN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Don Clevenger; brothers-in-law, Max Clevenger (wife, Jean), Keith Clevenger (wife, Barbara) and Rex Cates.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to many of her friends and neighbors, but especially to Jim and Marie Reed, Linda Hodge, and Duane and Susan Taylor.

A committal service to celebrate Betty’s life will be 11 am Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Mausoleum Chapel at Gardens of Memory Cemetery of Muncie, IN. Entombment will follow. The family will have a private gathering at Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Parker United Methodist Church, 305 S. Worked at the bank with Betty for years. What a classy lady. She lit the room when she arrived. Enjoyed golf with Don and his brothers. Both Betty and Don always had a smile and kind word. RIP Betty

Betty & I became friends when we worked together at Industrial Trust Bank. She was a very special lady, & i treasure our lasting friendship. She will be missed.
