Ralph "Tuck" Slick, of Lynn Indiana, passed away at his home, Thursday, August 10, 2017.  

 Ralph was born in Union City, Indiana to Ralph and Mary Slick on December 11th, 1937, and has lived all his life in Randolph County.  He graduated in 1955 from Spartanburg High School and after graduation attended Indiana Barber School in Indianapolis, Indiana, upon graduation he worked as a barber in Richmond Indiana.  He married Margo Mitchell on August 16, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Union City, Indiana and at that time was the owner/operator of a barbershop in Lynn, Indiana, from 1959 thru 1960.  Ralph helped run Mitchell’s Blue Roof Truck Stop from 1960-1963. He managed and barbered at the Gateway Barber Shop in Richmond’s Gateway Mall from 1963-1968.  He was a truck driver for Spartan Casket Shell beginning in 1968 and retired from driving in 1988.  He took an inside position as Traffic Manager for York Casket (formerly Spartan Casket) and later for Matthews International until he retired in 2005.  After retirement, he continued working for Matthews setting up and equipping warehouses. 

He enjoyed bowling on a league in his early years, loved playing cards, followed racing of all kinds, sprints, IRL, Indy 500 and Nascar, and at age 60 took up playing golf which he loved.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lucille Green and Ralph Warwick Slick; and sister Doras May.   Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margo; siblings Catherine (Kate) Green, Mary Louise (Toad) Hunt, Jerald (Jerry) Slick, and Edwin Joe Slick; two children Jeffrey Scott Slick (Wendy) and Lisa Kay Horn (Jame); three grandchildren Justin Slick, Zachary Horn and Kennedy Horn (Lisa) and two great grandchildren Juztice and Adrian Slick. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Reid Health Hospice Services, 1100 Reid Parkway, Richmond, IN 47374. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Reid Health Hospice for their support in his final days.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4 to 8pm Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Thomas Memorial Chapel, 108 East Sherman St.  Lynn, IN 47355. A service to celebrate Ralph’s life will be Wednesday, August 16th at 11 am, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spartanburg Cemetery. just wanted to extend my sympathy to the family, Ralph was a great guy and his passing saddened me. I couldn't make the calling due to being out of town for my work, but, wanted to say something all the same. I know he will be missed.
