Janice “Jan” Marie Ellis, 66, of Parker City, IN passed away Saturday afternoon, May 6, 2017 at IU Health Cancer Center of Indianapolis, IN. She was born July 11, 1950 in Ft. Wayne, IN the daughter of Kenneth Jr. and Virginia Ellen (Reinhold) Hammer.

Jan was a receptionist at Preferred Footcare for 5 years and previously had worked at the Styling Salon at JC Penney of Muncie, IN. She was a member of the American Legion of Farmland, IN and she attended Integris Community Church of Albany, IN.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Kenny Ellis (wife, Christa) of Williamsburg, IN; three daughters, Debby Williams (husband, Steve) of Farmland, IN, Kelly Small (husband, Jim) of Dunkirk, IN and Shelly McGrath (husband, Bob) of Parker City, IN; a sister, Cheryl Petty (husband, Steve) of Monroe, MI; 13 grandchildren, Kassie, Mac, Faithlan (husband, Josh), Abigail, Marlee, Tori, Champ, Landree, Alex, Honour, J.P., Glory and Izzy; and two great grandchildren, Ryder and Ellie Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Stephen Paul Ellis; a brother, Garry Hammer; and a great grandchild, Hadlie.

A service to celebrate Jan’s life will be 11 am Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church of Carlos, Indiana. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery of Carlos, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4-8 pm Tuesday, May 9th at Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Debby; I am so sorry to read about your mother. She was the sweetest person. She went with me to surgery and took me home after Dr. Freeman operated on me several years ago. I am very appreciative of her taking the time to do that for me. Thank you for getting us together and her help. My condolences to you and all your family at this difficult time.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mom she was a wonderful woman with a great laugh and personality she will truly be missed. ..we are out of town I'm sure sorry I didn't make it to the calling or funeral..may God be with you...love you all..Candy
