L. Marie Enghaus Swartz Baker, 92, of Indianapolis, IN formerly of Winchester, IN passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Hospital of Indianapolis. She was born July 2, 1924 in Hammond, IN the daughter of Charles and Dorthea (Bond) Enghaus. She was a graduate of Warren Central High School of Indianapolis.
Marie retired as an Executive Secretary, having worked with several businesses and the Methodist Church of Ft. Wayne, IN. She was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, American Business Women and Women of the Moose Lodge #1618 of Winchester. She had also volunteered with St. Vincent Randolph Hospital of Winchester.
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Claudia Rider of Indianapolis; three grandsons, Rick Rider (Nancy) of Hartford, CT, Jeff Rider (wife, Dawn) of Denver, CO and Pat Rider (wife, Stacey) of Carmel, IN; seven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Adopted parents, Jessie and Claude Dill; husband, William Baker; brothers, Robert, John, Charles and Edward.
A graveside service to celebrate Marie’s life will be 2 pm Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Union Chapel Cemetery of Carlos, IN. Cremation was selected. There will be no visitation. Services have been entrusted to Thomas Memorial Chapel of Lynn, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntsville Community Center c/o Penny Martin 7508 S. Huntsville Rd. Modoc, IN 47358.
